Our aim

Our laboratory studies how neural progenitors give rise to the astonishing diversity of neurons found in the mature nervous system.

We are highly interested in the transcriptional mechanisms controlling neurogenesis and neuronal diversification in vertebrates and use the mouse and Xenopus embryos as models. In the last years, our research is focused on the molecular mechanisms of neurogenesis within the developing cerebral cortex and the peripheral somatosensory system.

By learning how the different types of neuronal cells are produced during development, our hope is to obtain knowledge that will helpĀ to develop therapies to treat neurological diseases.
